Who Are the Sentinel Six?
Here begins the history of The Sentinel Six.
Who are they? They are six close college friends who also happen to save the city (and sometimes the world) together.
Dramatis Personae:
Fuchsia: Eleanor “Ellie” Collins. She’s from Portland, Oregon and is studying Psychology and Neuroscience. Ellie is a Caucasian woman with auburn hair and blue eyes.
Her superpowers include Telepathy, Empathy, and Telekinesis. Her power glows with soft, pink-violet energy.
She is kind, gentle, and outgoing. As Fuchsia, she is grounded but secretly worries about her own competence. She is the emotional center around whom everyone else gravitates.
Her costume is a fuchsia-colored bodysuit with dark purple sleeves, legs, belt, and mask that covers the top half of her face, along with fuchsia gloves and boots.
Cinderblock: Rafael “Rafa” Morales. He’s from San Antonio, Texas and is majoring in Civil and Mechanical Engineering. Rafa is a Latino male with a tall, stocky build, short cropped dark hair, brown eyes, and a perpetual 5 o'clock shadow.
He has substantial superhuman strength and durability and can transform his body into living rock.
He was cocky and a little entitled when he first met the team but has grown into their physical anchor and “big brother” figure – loyal, thoughtful, and surprisingly sentimental.
His costume is a dark grey muscle shirt, black canvas pants, black leather boots and belt and a black domino mask. He does not wear gloves.
Indy: Margaret “Maggie” Calder. She’s from Madison, Wisconsin and is studying Physics. She’s a short, athletic Caucasian woman with short blonde hair and blue eyes.
Her superpowers are centered around superhuman speed and reflexes. She can run at high speeds, even up walls and across water.
She is impulsive, fiercely loyal, and adventurous. Maggie balances the team’s intensity with humor, practicality, and spontaneity. She is particularly known for her mischievous streak.
Her costume is a red bodysuit with side panels featuring a black and white checkerboard pattern (like the checkered flag at the end of the Indy 500). It has no belt and black boots and gloves with white trim. It features a crossed racing flags motif as a chest emblem. Indy wears racing goggles rather than a mask.
Echo: Danielle “Dani” Brooks. She’s from Baltimore, Maryland and is studying Communications and Sociology.
Dani is a young African American woman with brown eyes, long black hair and an athletic build (she runs track at the college).
She is pragmatic, disciplined, and calm under pressure. She acts as the team’s stabilizer and tactician. Her trademarks include straightforward humor and quiet encouragement. She has precisely zero patience for drama and similar nonsense.
Her base power is the ability to absorb ambient light and project it as sound. She uses light- and sound-based energy manipulation. She can generate blasts, illusions, and waves for combat or distraction. She also has an uncanny (but not superhuman) sense of hearing.
Her costume looks more like athletic wear: athletic shoes, ankle-length leggings, ¾ crop track jersey, warmup jacket. Uniform colors are green, black, yellow, and white. She wears a mask that covers the top half of her face. She keeps her hair restrained with a headband or tied back in a ponytail.
Knight Wing: Jonathan “Jon” Hale. He’s from Pasadena, California and is studying Aerospace Engineering, with strong background in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer-aided design.
Jon is a tall Caucasian male with an average build, brown eyes, and medium length brown hair - none of which is visible when he's in his armor.
Jon is brilliant, analytical, and protective, often acting as the strategist and technical architect of the team. He is reserved but deeply caring. He sometimes doubts his own abilities and/or his teammates' trust in him.
Jon has no superhuman abilities, but he is an expert engineer, solid tactician, and borderline polymath. He is tenaciously curious. He has taken basic fitness and self-defense courses.
In his superhero identity, Jon wears a suit of high tech armor that looks like it was designed in the 1940s. (This is an intentional design decision; his great-grandfather was the original superhero Knight Wing during World War II.) The armor provides full body coverage, including a helmet that protects both his head and his secret identity. The armor is gunmetal grey with red and navy blue accents. Perhaps the armor's most distinguishing feature is the wings. They look like mechanical bird wings with a wingspan approaching 10 feet when fully spread. They can be folded to the point where they're hardly visible on his back.
Vault: Linh Tran. She’s from San Jose, California and is majoring in Mathematics (emphasis in Statistics and Data Analysis) with a minor in Computer Programming.
Linh is a petite, lithe, athletic Asian American woman with brown eyes and jet-black hair that reaches to her elbows.
She has exceptional, though not superhuman, quickness and reflexes. She does have superhuman healing and resistance to disease and poisons. She fights with a Bo staff that she also uses for exceptional leaping.
Linh is precise, analytical, and disciplined; she is deeply loyal to true friends and family. She can be socially reserved. She is the newest and youngest member of the team. She is confident but lacks experience.
Her costume is a sleeveless bodysuit in dark blue and gold with black martial arts slippers instead of boots. She also wears a black belt (not decorative), black bicycle gloves, blue and gold wrist/arm guards, and a blue domino mask. In costume, she typically carries a 5' wooden Bo staff (which is nearly as tall as she is).
Shown below is one of the earliest pictures of the full team, before they adopted their current uniforms.
